MBGD: Extracting The Splendour Of Diobu

Most Beautiful Girl in Diobu (MBGD) which started first with a pageantry event in July, 2016 is the brain child of two dynamic young men, Mr Kingsley Onyema and Uwandu Christanus Uzuoma, who wanted to portray a different view from what people know about Diobu. The event was put together by 1982 Entertainment Empire, an enterprise owned by the duo. It started with an audition for the contestants, there were rehearsals and then the grand finale was held at the Autograph Event Center, Abacha Road, GRA, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. It was a star-studded event, from the red carpet to the stage performances, comedy, music and speeches. All nine contestants performed various routines and were scored by the judges. Miss Jessica Ogbeibu emerged as Winner of at the Maiden edition of MBGD. The 1st Runner up is grabbed 

by Miss
Victoria Ikeolu with the Title of FACE OF DIOBU, while the second runner up PRIDE OF DIOBU went to Miss Adaeze Okoro.

Writing about her mandate, Queen Jessica says, “My vision for MBGD is to bring about peace and development by empowering the girl child and sensitize children on Cultism, Sexual abuse and Malaria. I want to practically raise independent and confident women from Diobu. I want to change the perspective of the general public that “nothing good comes out of Diobu” and create a channel for positive achievements. Since her victory, she has had school, community and fashion tours.

The second edition of the pageantry is in the pipeline already, slated for the 21st of July, 2017. The audition forms are on sale in the following locations:
